New Bases For Fantasy

In this post, I mentioned the 40k bases I sell, but since I was getting into fantasy, I wanted to have bases for that as well.

Wargames Factory has a melt down

You know those neat alternate models that could be used for IG, put out by Wargames Factory?

Well, it looks like they're in rough seas.

A press release from Wargames Factory Sales Director Lonnie Mullins -formerly of GW Trade Sales- detailed that CEO Tony Reidy is no longer with the company in an official capacity, and that with Tony's departure, the supply issues would be resolved post haste.

Reidy, not to be outdone, posted an open letter that all that was bollocks, and Lonnie Mullins was someone who would "[throw] me under the bus" and who "has no honor whatsoever." It seems at some point, Reidy sold the majority of his company to his supplier, and this is a cause of great regret for Reidy, as he has no say.

More information can be found on this Dakka thread, including a link to a further staffer's letter regarding the situation. The long and the short of it, though? If you got those great coat troopers, count your blessings, as we're not likely to see them ever again.

Product review - Armory Spray Primer.

So, I usually use the Walmart brand Colorplace Flat Black, but I was at my local gaming store, and decided to pick up a black primer while I was there. My only gripe with the Colorplace spray is the fact that it isn't a true black; it's more of a dark grey.

They were selling the Armory spray at a very reasonable price for a specialized primer, and I picked it up.

I regret my purchase. My new vindicator is completely fuzzed, and I'm going to have to dip it to clear that gunk off of it. I did all the usual tricks: I shook it for a minute, sprayed a bit to get it going, and then used small sharp bursts. It worked for the GW primer back in the day, and it worked for Colorplace as well. It does not work for Armory at all.

The nozzle is now clogged with black gunk. It even had a ribbon of black pigment ooze out of the thing like one of those crappy black snake things you give to kids that you can't trust with sparklers.

So, in short, don't buy this product.

Additional recruits

I haven't been writing as much because I was preparing for a tournament. FYI, apparently, my scatter die mojo has gone south for the winter, as I went 1-2 and got pummeled the entire time. Apparently, strategy isn't my thing. :)

I'm a big fan of the alternate heads available out there for your cadian/catachan bodies. Things like the Seperate Head System from West Wind, or the ones from Pig Iron Productions. Pig Iron produced Winter Heads, and I snatched those up. I'm also a fan of the Rebel Kolony line. Both of those are available from the Warstore.

I don't know what to call this regiment, as I don't see them as Valhallans. I started making them during the whole Mordant 13th thing, so I might go with that. Or I might come up with some new regiment altogether.

And full disclosure, I receive no free stuff from anybody on this or any other product. I know there's a whole new law passed about that. I don't know the particulars, but I thought I'd cover myself, just in case. :)
