Blowing the dust off...

I may have been otherwise occupied.

It really is the devil.

Between school, work, SWTOR, and the obvious release today (which I was beta-testing), I've been a busy boy.

But I recently went to Adepticon as well, so perhaps I haven't been totally absent from the hobby. And, I finally brought a new Team Banzai themed army as well.

And I even made our new display board as well.

Shown here in it's Friday, pre-finished incarnation

It's not much to look at, but it's better than some. :)

But coming back from Adepticon has re-energized my desire to play the hobby. I'm building and painting again, and I've got a new idea for making my X-Board look snazzy (and to make it work with my new Grey Knight army's tech bases). So, look forward to actual future blog entries and such.

Nova Open

IT LOOMS.

I'm looking forward to the 40k Championships this weekend, but I'm also not stressing them either. Or, at least, as much as "not stress" tournaments. The peril is that I'm going in cold, having never tested my list, and I have until, well, tomorrow. And really, my list is fixed at this point (turned it in early to get the extra raffle ticket), so crying, spilled milk, etc.

My list is semi-casual, and fits in one (small) Battlefoam case. I figure that I'll be able to keep all my clothes, figs and travel display board in one suitcase. So, anywho, here is the list.

The Sanguinor

Librarian with Jump Pack, Blood Lance and Shield of Sanguinius

Honor Guard with 4 Lightning Claw/Storm Shield Troops and Priest

1 Sanguinary Priest with Jump Pack

3 x Assault Squads with Melta x 2, Powerfist

1 Assault Squad with Flamer x 2, Powerfist and Melta Bomb

1 7 man Vanguard Vet with 3 Power Weapons, 1 Power fist, and one Melta Bomb trooper

WIP Counts as Coteaz

I've been working to convert my old Sister of Sigmar Matriarch into a counts as Inquisitor Coteaz. I'm not quite done, as I want to armor her gauntlets and add a hawk to her hand, so as to better emulate power armor and represent Coteaz's wargear. I'm going to buy the Reaper Familiar Pack that contains the hawk and the raven, though I might go with the raven, as it seems more fitting to her. It just seems more Mordheim-esque.

MiniWargaming's Open video letter to GW

Websites like BoLS, Dakka, and the Warstore increase my hobby participation. The Warstore is my mainstay for big purchases, but I still spend my hard earned dime at Canton Games and the occasional GW.

Adepticon Relic

I was playing in the Combat Patrol on Saturday at Adepticon, and it was Orks, Orks, Orks, and Space Wolves.

The Space Wolf player was using counts as rules, but I didn't mind so much, as his models were really sharp. Not Golden Demon level, certainly, but they had a look and depth to them that made them stand out. Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me at the time, so all I got was his Army list, which you see above.

Look at the level of effort taken to get that thing just so. He didn't have to go to that depth, as a simple typed thing would have got the message across, but he went that extra mile. I know it's a small thing, but that extra effort is why I go to bigger cons, so I can see what rabbit people pull out of their hat.

And yes, he pummeled me. :)

Alternate Models

Meet my new "Counts as Coteaz". I've since dunked her in the Simple Green, and I'm going to green stuff more tech bitz on her (Bionic eye, power armor greaves). I'm also looking at getting the reaper Familiar pack with a hawk in it to have it alight on her hand, along with adding a RT era power pack to her back. This is in keeping with my new "No more GW purchases" mentality.

I'm also re-purposing the rest of the sisters as Death Cult Assassins. I'm thinking I might change their hammers for blades, so as to make them more "Initiative 6" looking.
